FLEXSPACE Box in a Box

Show me the Green: Build a Box in a Box

Quandary: You now have a need for temperature-controlled storage within your existing ambient facility. You would like to avoid moving or sub-leasing a new space. What to do?

A sustainable construction method to convert an ambient space into a temperature-controlled storage space is commonly called “Box in a Box”.  One of the best ways to support our planet is to create and construct sustainably, which in this instance is retrofitting an existing structure with a temperature-controlled area.  We will further demonstrate how we capitalize on sustainability by creating exponentially more storage capacity within the box.

First, when constructing a “Box in a Box”, many organizations utilize insulated interior panels to create the structure itself.  Insulated metal panels are installed within the existing walls, creating a thermal and vapor barrier necessary for refrigeration or freezing. These insulated panels reduce heat transfer, resulting in a minimized amount of energy required to maintain cold temperatures.

What’s inside the box to create further efficiencies?

FLEXSPACE Mobile Racking Systems can be retrofitted into the existing concert slab.  The process typically takes a matter of weeks with minimal business disruption.

In most cases, FLEXSPACE Mobile Racking will increase storage capacity up to 70% more than traditional double-deep storage racking.  Creating more capacity in a smaller footprint within the box contributes to the organization’s bottom line and its sustainability initiatives.

A Box in a Box design is more cost-effective and quicker to implement than constructing a new cold storage facility or subleasing cold storage space.  It also allows for the repurposing of an existing building which is a key principle of sustainable development.

The design of a Box in a Box is also flexible to meet specific temperature requirements (e.g., cooler, freezer, or convertible spaces) and accommodates various industries, such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, or logistics. This flexibility can create more efficient operational processes and reduce energy consumption across several industries.

A Box in a Box design allows businesses to be flexible, nimble, and environmentally conscientious by adding capacity within an existing footprint.  Increased profitability is also achieved with FLEXSPACE Mobile Racking within the box by increasing storage capacity over traditional systems.

When it comes to sustainability, Box in a Box and FLEXSPACE Mobile Racking Systems show you the green.
