Introducing Walt, Construction Manager

Walt Lewis, Construction Manager

With over 20 years of project management experience in the commercial construction industry, 15 of which were with Turner Construction, Walt brings his wisdom and know-how to oversee FLEXSPACE and FlexCold projects and construction.

When not exploring the waterways of the Lowcountry on the family boat, “Reel Sweet”, Walt and his wife are attending their children’s theater productions, piano recitals, and choir concerts. Walt and his family are also passionate about the shores and waterways in and around Charleston. He is the Chairman of the Board of a local charitable group, Wounded Nature. Its mission is to help clean- up the shores and waterways by hosting beach clean-up events, coordinating the removal and disposal of abandoned boats, replenishing oyster beds, and many other activities to keep waterways from Florida to New Jersey clean and healthy.

We’re thrilled you’ve dropped anchor here at FLEXSPACE, Walt.

Childhood ambition: I have always been interested in building, fixing, and working on things – toys, cars, houses. So there is little doubt as to why I have worked in construction as a project manager and still work on all of those things as a hobby.

One phone call that changed your life: I actually got a “Beep” – yes before cell phones – to call my mom. She received in the mail my acceptance letter to the College I wanted to attend. I was the first person in my family to go to college. It was a very big moment.

One person you’d like to meet: Rick Hendrick. It would be interesting to discuss how he has been able to keep his companies always at the top of their game. How does he support his teams? What pushes them to always be the best?

Favorite book(s): Enjoy readying about boats and boating trips. Always coming up with the next adventure.
Favorite tune(s): Depending on what I am doing it goes from South Rock / Country to Old School Hip Hop
Favorite movie(s): National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Fast and the Furious (All of them), SpaceBalls (Classic)

One thing people would be surprised to know about you: I am very interested in completing the Great Loop one day. It is a trip that goes from the Florida Keys to Boston to Canada, over to the Mississippi River and down into the Gulf of Mexico. The waterways are all connected by locks and rivers so you can make a complete loop.

Favorite place on earth: Anywhere on a boat relaxing
