The primary challenge stemmed from managing the growing inventory of individual SKUs (98,000+), which made it difficult to meet customers’ demanding delivery expectations.
The existing two-level racking system was no longer sufficient for the growing inventory and did not allow for the addition of a third tier. Furthermore, manual handling processes led to lengthy search times and frequent picking mistakes.
To overcome these inefficiencies, the company decided to implement a new solution.
The Solution
To increase storage capacity, reduce picking errors, and ensure full traceability, the company installed nine SILO² vertical storage systems. Each unit was 23.6’ x 10.8’ x 23’ equipped with three columns and two picking and depositing stations, all equipped with IRIDE.
